Kukulkan (Represented by the Plumed Serpent) is perhaps one of the most iconic figures in mayan legend. This part - god, part - messiah is also known as “The Powerful Voiced God”.
Legend says he came from the sea & disappeared to the east, from where he vowed to return.
He is said to have brought wisdom & knowledge to the mesoamerican people and is also claimed to have founded the legendary city of Chichen Itzá where each year, during the winter solstice, the shadow of the plumed serpent returns, descending the pyramid to announce the end of the long, dark nights & the return of the light.
