Amidst the thick jungle of the Yucatan Península, are found hidden caverns and cenotes: entrances to the Mayan underworld -ruled by the twelve lords of Xibalba. This sacred world is found in the underground caves and rivers that surge beneath ancient mayan cities & is said to host temples and ball courts where the living may battle the lords of the dead to prove their worth.
To enter this realm is no easy task: many difficult trials must be entured and overcome in order to gain the approval of the lords of Xibalba. This cape protects it’s wearer through the trials of the underworld and perhaps allows it, for some time: to cheat death.
